This study shows how the flash chromatography system Isolera™ can perform a size-exclusion separation according to an EPA sample clean up method - a key step in environmental laboratories.
Isolera is used mainly for purification of target compounds from organic or medicinal chemistry processes. However it can also be used to perform other chromatographic techniques which utilize similar fundamental principles. This work and indeed its key point is that the Isolera was applied to another chromatographic technique, in the separation of interferences from samples (for example prior to LC/MS or GC/MS techniques). Size exclusion chromatography is not always easy to predict - there are many factors for success, which is why this was a good and somewhat surprising result.
